Out of the Woods

Pooh and Friends

Cartoon characters have so much to teach us – take James P. Sullivan from Monsters, Inc., or Po and Shifu from Kung Fu Panda, for example.

One of my personal favourites is a kind-hearted and lovable bear named Winnie the Pooh. He’s full of warmth and gentle wisdom. Pooh lives in the Hundred Acre Wood alongside his dear friends Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore.

Imagine if Winnie the Pooh and all his friends had mobile phones, perhaps their story would unfold something like this…

One sunny morning, Pooh ๐Ÿงธcheerfully texted Piglet ๐Ÿท:
“I have something special ๐Ÿฏ for you! May I come over and give it?”

Piglet stayed silent. ๐Ÿ˜ถ
Pooh asked againโ€ฆ and againโ€ฆ
Still, nothing but quiet. ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ
So Pooh gently said, “Okay ๐Ÿ‘” and waddled along.

This time, he reached out to Tigger.
But Tigger, too, said nothing ๐Ÿ˜ถ
Pooh tried onceโ€ฆ twiceโ€ฆ thrice, but ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ
Then with a soft sigh, he said, “Okay ๐Ÿ‘” and carried on.

Not one to give up easily, Pooh thought maybe another day would be better. He said to Piglet,
“Shall we meet another day? I still have something special ๐Ÿฏ for you!”

Piglet replied,
“Okay, that would be nice.”

Pooh lit up with joy! He even made a plan and waited excitedly.
But just as the moment arrived, Piglet messaged last-minute:
“I have a runny nose ๐Ÿคง. I can’t make it.”
Pooh replied, ever kind: “Okay ๐Ÿ‘”

A few days later, Piglet suggested,
“Letโ€™s meet another day.”

Pooh, hopeful again, said “Okay ๐Ÿ‘”
But on that day, Piglet texted: ๐Ÿฅน
Pooh’s heart sank: ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Still, he replied with grace: “Okay ๐Ÿ‘”

Later, in the quiet of his own mind, the Wise Pooh ๐Ÿง began speaking with the Sad Pooh ๐Ÿ˜ž who lived within him.

Wise Pooh ๐Ÿง: “Are you feeling down, Pooh?”
Sad Pooh ๐Ÿ˜ž: “Yesโ€ฆ”

Sad Pooh ๐Ÿ˜ž: “What went wrong? Am I being taken for granted? What does your wisdom say?”

Sad Pooh ๐Ÿ˜ž: “But I tried to make Piglet and Tigger happy. Isnโ€™t that what a Pooh bear does?”

Wise Pooh ๐Ÿง: “You did your part, dear bear. But hereโ€™s the secretโ€”
Focus your energy on nurturing what flows naturally to you, rather than trying to force or control outcomes you desire!

Pooh listened ๐Ÿค“
Pooh understood ๐Ÿซก
Pooh smiled softly ๐Ÿซ

And so, the Sad Pooh ๐Ÿ˜ž became the Blessed Pooh ๐Ÿ˜‡.
He treated himself with what he brought for Piglet and Tigger๐Ÿฏ and declared:
“Time to go back to doing nothing!”

Wise Pooh ๐Ÿง added with a chuckle:
“The world says ‘nothing is hard’โ€ฆ but Pooh easily does nothing.”

And so, the Blessed Pooh ๐Ÿ˜‡ strolled back into the Hundred Acre Woodโ€”the magical forest of books, stories, and gentle thoughts.
There, he sat down with a maska jam sandwich ๐Ÿฅช and a comforting cup of tea โ˜•๏ธ.

As he sipped and smiled, he thought:

Oh, bother! ๐Ÿ˜‡

A lovely little story about my favourite character! Another one is the wise old turtle in “Finding Nemo”.
